From scavenging for shells and creating natural art, to digging channels in the sand and observing tide changes, every session has been packed with hands-on learning and joyful discovery. The children have embraced the open space and freedom to move, think, and learn outside the classroom — and it's been incredible to see how this has already helped everyone develop new friendships and strengthen existing ones.
The sensory experiences of the beach have been particularly valuable helping to ground our learners as they transition back into the school routine. We’ve seen huge benefits in emotional well-being already. Being by the sea seems to invite calm, curiosity, and confidence — and it’s clear our learners are thriving. We’re so proud of the way they’ve supported each other, taken risks, and shown resilience as we dive into a new year.
We can’t wait to see where the next few weeks take us, both at the beach and beyond.
