VE 80

Today we celebrated 80 years since Victory in Europe day. We learned about how hard life was for people in Britain and the rest of Europe during the second world war. We talked about our British Values and the important role that Democracy, Rule of Law, Liberty and Mutual Respect and Tolerance play in ensuring that we never again face a war of this magnitude.

We discussed how the hard work and sacrifice of people during the war was recognised by the government by awarding them with medals. We thought about all of the brave things people had to do during the war and designed and made our own medals to mark this occasion.

We learned how to play World War song - We'll Meet Again - on the keyboard and discussed how songs like this kept people going when their loved ones were away fighting.

We talked about the celebrations that took place in Britain when the war finally ended and made anzac cookies to have our own celebration at school. At 12 o’clock we showed our respect by holding a 2 minute silence.
