Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

This week saw our first group of learners complete a Duke of Edinburgh Expedition, and what an expedition it was. We started our journey dipping our wheels in the sea at Whitehaven then followed the Coast to Coast Cycle path through the Lake District to Keswick. This was 50km of beautiful cycle path, quiet country lanes and uphills, uphills and more uphills. The scenery was out of this world as was the weather. Our learners showed the Who Dares Wins attitude in abundance - determination and ambition were at the top of the list. We arrived in Keswick as the sun was setting and had a great night, until everyone collapsed with exhaustion!! After a restful night in a bunkhouse in Alston we got woken early for day 2 (there were definitely some tired boys). We set off again following the Waskerly Way all the way to Newcastle Quayside. All in all learners covered 100km, which is a fantastic achievement in 2 days. We are really proud of all they have achieved. I wonder what we will do next year!!
